Approximation and interpolation of complex functions

Part 1: Introduction: HPC & Programming

This course provides an introduction to a range of techniques for the efficient approximation of numerical functions with varying levels of accuracy. Topics include polynomial and rational approximations, range reduction strategies, and floating-point arithmetic methods commonly employed to improve performance. Particular attention is given to the analysis of trade-offs between accuracy and computational cost, enabling students to develop a critical understanding of how approximation techniques can be selected and applied in practice.
