Regulations

Academic rules, participation requirements and final qualification of the MHPC programme.

The MHPC follows a set of academic regulations defining attendance requirements, course evaluation, progression rules, final thesis conditions and the qualification awarded at the end of the programme. This page summarises the main points of the regulation and can also provide direct access to the official downloadable document. For applicants, it is also a practical way to understand the academic framework and level of commitment required by the programme.

Students are expected to actively participate in lectures and practical sessions throughout the programme. To be admitted to the evaluation process for a course, students must attend at least 70% of the lectures and complete the assigned exercises within the deadlines established by the lecturer. If absences exceed 30% of the scheduled teaching time in a specific course, the situation must be discussed with the programme coordinator.

Each course is evaluated by the lecturer using the Italian grading scale from 18 to 30, where 18 corresponds to the minimum passing grade. A failed course is recorded as FAIL. Students who fail two courses within a teaching phase may have their enrolment reconsidered by the programme’s scientific council. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited and may lead to exclusion from the programme.

To obtain the MHPC diploma, students must successfully complete a final project and pass the final examination. Admission to the final exam requires successful completion of the first part of the programme, completion of the required courses of the second part, approval of the thesis project by the thesis committee, and submission of the final thesis before the examination session.

Upon successful completion of the programme and the final project, students are awarded the Master in High Performance Computing diploma. This qualification is a specialisation programme and is not equivalent to a Master of Science degree or to an Italian second-cycle university degree. The programme corresponds to level 7 of the European Qualifications Framework.

The tuition fee for the MHPC programme is currently €7,000. Fees are typically paid in three instalments during the academic year: €1,000 before the beginning of the lectures of the first part, €3,000 before the beginning of the lectures of the second part, and the remaining balance at the end of the lectures of the second part. Information about scholarships and financial support opportunities is available in the relevant section of the website.
